The Will Steger Foundation is proud to announce its third annual Summer Institute for Climate Change Education. The three-day interdisciplinary conference is open to 75 educators from Minnesota. Speakers will include polar explorer Will Steger, leaders in education, policy, and science, and students active in the youth climate movement.
Participants will learn about global warming science, social political, and ecological implications, and concrete solutions for students, educators, and institutions. Conference format will vary from large group presentations to breakout sessions and small work teams. Food and resources provided at no extra cost. Graduate Credits available.
- Hear Will Steger’s Eyewitness to Global Warming with the latest stories and data from his recently completed Ellesmere Island Expedition (March-June 2008) and Greenland expedition (July 2008)
- Learn from notable education and climate change experts including Dr. James Hansen, renowned NASA Scientist
- Andrew Revkin, NY Times Science Reporter, and author of "The North Pole Was Here" will be joining us via an internet Skype call.
- Access free Will Steger Foundation Global Warming 101 lesson plans, curriculum, and resources on global warming
- Create an action plan for the classroom and school that aims to create a low carbon school culture
- Network with dynamic educators from across Minnesota
Application process begins May 2008. Participants are encouraged to attend in pairs from one school.
