BILL MCKIBBEN AND WILL STEGER CALL FOR CLIMATE CHANGE SOLUTIONS

Bill McKibben and Will Steger are encouraging climate change solutions through
public policy, education and leadership

Join author and climate activist Bill McKibben and polar explorer and Minnesota native Will Steger for a free public forum as they share their experiences and perspectives on climate solutions from the global to local level.

Steger has traveled tens of thousands of miles by kayak and dogsled over 45 years, leading teams on some of the most significant polar expeditions in history. Steger has been invited to testify before the United States Congress and was appointed by Governor Tim Pawlenty to serve on the Minnesota Climate Change Advisory Group. McKibben is a scholar in residence at Middlebury College. His The End of Nature, published in 1989, is regarded as the first book for a general audience on global warming. He is a founder of 350.org, a campaign to spread the goal of reducing atmospheric carbon dioxide to 350 parts per million worldwide.

Bill McKibben and Will Steger will be speaking to the general public at Edina High School before addressing over 100 educators at the University of Minnesota on global climate solutions, curriculum and citizen engagement in the upcoming international climate negotiation in Copenhagen, Denmark. The goals of the events are to galvanize educators, community members and youth to lead the transition to a clean energy economy through citizen action and support of U.S. climate leadership at the local, national and international level.
