Who Are We?

Written by  Will Steger Foundation

Who are we?Established in January 2006 by polar explorer Will Steger, the Will Steger Foundation (WSF), located in Minneapolis, MN, is dedicated to creating programs that foster international leadership and cooperation through environmental education and policy. The Will Steger Foundation has seen firsthand the dramatic effects of climate change on both the environment and the human condition through the efforts of its founder, Will Steger, who has explored the Polar Regions for 45 years. With that knowledge, WSF is leading humanity to slow climate change.

The Will Steger Foundation educates, inspires and empowers people to engage in solutions to climate change.

Past Initiatives:

Global Warming 101

GW101The Will Steger Foundation's Global Warming 101 Initiative raises broad public awareness about global warming as witnessed through Will Steger's polar expeditions, educates about the effects of human actions upon the global climate, and empowers individual choices and grassroots efforts that lead to massive institutional reform and technological innovation. Global Warming 101 is WSF’s Web-based initiative for expedition updates, action and resources. Daily updates from expeditions are highlighted on our website’s front page, along with current global warming news, education and action resources.

The Longest Summer Tour

The Longest Summer TourThe Will Steger Foundation's Longest Summer Tour is galvanizing audiences across the Upper Midwest to lead the transition to a clean energy economy. With eyewitness footage of global warming from extreme polar expeditions, opportunities to dialogue with policy-makers, scientists and climate experts, and solutions from young climate leaders on the forefront of an international movement to solve the climate crisis, we are meeting with college campuses and concerned citizenry to address climate change. The Longest Summer Tour is October 13–22, 2008 with stops in Chicago, Ill.; Milwaukee, Wis.; Grand Rapids, Mich.; Marquette, Mich.; Houghton, Mich.; Ashland, Wis.; and Duluth, Minn.
